Robots Recruited for Hospital Jobs

“Robots Take Our Jobs”

Could this be a future news headline? A Scottish hospital will become the first in the UK to recruit a fleet of robots to carry out task normally undertaken by hospital porters.

The fleet of robots will deliver food to patients, clean operating theatres, remove clinical waste, dispensing drugs and other day to day task. This may sound like a scene from a movie set in the future, but robots have already been used in hospitals and pharmaceutical companies throughout the world.

Forth Valley Royal Hospital in Scotland are finalising test ahead of the August opening of the new £300 million Forth Valley Royal Hospital in Larbert, Stirlingshire.

The Roberts will help release time constraints on Nurses and “improve patient care and the life of staff”

Managers will keep at least one human on standby encase any of the robots break down and said the robots will not replace humans, but are designed to free up more time for staff to spend with patients.

The success of the hospital robots could see robots being used in other job sectors and again highlights, the predicted drop in low skilled UK jobs is real.

If you’re in a low skilled job and are worried about the future of your career, then this is time to look at how your transferable skills can be used in other growth industries.
